Curiosity may have killed the cat, but it also inspired a classic tale born in Paris as the advancing Nazis threatened destruction.

February 28, 2004--Kids everywhere have been living vicariously through Curious George and his wacky adventures. They may soon be watching him in a block buster movie by Ron Howard.
The little monkey did all the crazy things kids wish they could do. Kids love to see him get into trouble, because no matter how bad things get for Curious George it all seems to turn out just fine in the end, said Bill Broadbent, owner of http://TShirtKing.com, distributor of the popular Curious George t-shirts.
Most people are not aware that Curious George could have been lost to us before he even began, explained Broadbent. The first manuscript about Curious George and the man in the yellow hat had to be whisked out of Paris, France just before the Nazi occupation in World War II.
Arriving safely in New York, creators Margret and Hans Augusto Rey sold the manuscript to Houghton Mifflin. The first Curious George book was published a year later in 1941. A total of seven books were published over the next 25 years. The mischievous chimp has been a favorite of generations of children ever since.
In fact, he deserves the title of international ambassador of mischief, because all seven of the Curious George books have been published around the world in nearly a dozen different languages.
People love the Curious George t-shirts because everyone in the family loves this cute little monkey, and so they buy shirts for both kids and adults, said Broadbent of the novelty t-shirts.
Fans may soon be able to wear their Curious George t-shirts to a major motion picture about the chimp. Ron Howard, who did such a tremendous job bringing The Grinch to the big screen, is reportedly working on a deal that will bring the legend to movie theaters.
Many remember the animated Curious George television series of the 1980's and want todays children to see George on the silver screen.
With the increased interest in comic book and cartoon characters by the movie industry, there is no doubt it will not be long before we see George bouncing across the screen, said Broadbent. Im just curious to see what trouble he gets himself into!
Curious George is not the only monkey featured on a best-selling t-shirt at http://TShirtKing.com.
Koko the Gorilla is big favorite, along with hundreds of other popular designs and selections available on-line.
